Total predicted defects are the product of predicted effective size and predicted defect density.
Formula
Total defects = Effective size (KSLOC) × Defect density (defects / KSLOC)
Effective size comes from the size prediction; defect density comes from the survey.
The total is then distributed over time to produce the defect profile, and converted into failure rate and MTTF.
